It's not so much that I have a problem against academic strictness. I think it's good for parents to set attainable academic goals for
their children. Disciplinary actions should be applied appropriately, but so should encouragements. So many of
my friends are kept in line not out of a desire for excellence but out of fear.

Asian parents seem
to forget that their children are living, thinking beings. We are treated little better
than machinery - I'm accustomed to taking orders from mine as a soldier would from his superiors, or as a rebel from a dictator. I don't
have a problem about that, either. My parents say I'm a dog, NO, lower than a dog. However, I draw the line when they extend control into every
aspect of my life, all in the name of academic achievements. I'm not allowed to go out and hang out with my friends to enjoy watching a movie. I've been beaten, yelled at, scolded,
thrown out of the house many times, been told to die, ever since I was in preschool, all the way to my current 9th grade status.

I am greatful that my own parents allow me to life a somewhat happy life. They allow me to live in their home, pay for my "Wants and Needs" but besides that, I hate them
to the very core of my heart, to my mind, and my soul. I wish to be different from them, not your stupid nerd looking fat bussiness man who barely makes a living.
I don't agree with any of the words they say, I may seem like a stubborn child, but I will believe in what I want, not what they say.
I cannot go anywhere without their permission, or of one of my friends that
my parents really know. If there is none of those friends, I'd live a unhappy life knowing only the inside of my home, but not of the outside world.
I only say I love my parents to them so they feel better. I truely hate, dispise, disgust by my parents. I live a worst live, while many other friends of
my friends live a happy life, enjoy having their parents. On the other hand I hate my parents.

The only dirty word in my household is "love."
It's not part of my vocabulary because it wasn't taught to be. To others, it means so much. But to me, it's
just another word in the dictionary, and not a particularly important one at that. First-Generation Asian-American families lack
collective souls. There's no such thing as parents loving their children. We are nothing more than pieces of machinery to them
- oiled and serviced now and then just so that we can serve our masters for a long, fat lifetime. To them, we have the emotional range of steel, too.
They never stop to think about how their children feel about certain issues. All of our decisions are made for us and we are forced to execute them
like the mindless drones they want us to be. If we disobey them, we are punished like a man being tortured to death.

Why I'm so cold and empty of all emotions save for spite. Today, you all have the official answer. I had a heart when
I was a younger boy. The reason why I only have a bit of it is because it has been labeled "evil" and "Useless" and taken away from me,
one scoop at a time, by thoroughly uncaring strict parents. The you know what the fucked-up part is, my dear friends?
It was apparently all done for my own good.

Anyway, it's too damned late for me or anyone like me to seek help. The best we can do is raise our children right,
raise them to think from the heart as much as they think from the head. I wish I could change, but it's impossible
now after 14 years in such a twisted system. All I can do is be a good provider (as my parents want me to be) to -
not my parents ever- but my own family. I shall not hit my children, I shall not pressure them into anything, I will

God be my witness. I'll never treat my children this way. Not in this life, not in the next one.
